Intern Architect
Role Description:
ZZap is seeking an individual to join our team as Intern Architect, providing professional architectural services to private sector and municipal government clients. The role will include prominent responsibility on various wide-ranging architecture and building projects working with the integrated architecture and planning team. The individual will report to the Project Lead and operate with a high level of autonomy. The role also involves interaction with other related disciplines as subconsultants such as landscape architecture, surveying and engineering.
Work Activities:

Working on projects from rezoning to building permit stage including concept design, presentation drawings, renderings, design development and documentation.

Preparation of working drawings and detail drawings for all projects including drawings for tender, detailing, and construction documentation through to issued for development and building permit and construction documents.

Assist in contract administration services such as the review of shop drawings, field reviews, RFIs, and preparation of site instructions and change orders.

Preparation and coordination of architecture activities in support of development proposals for private and municipal clients, as well as providing support to other project team members.

Establish, maintain and enhance positive client relationships.

Participate in the preparation of proposals and work with company Principals on business development activities.

Troubleshoot and engage with support personnel on IT support on hardware and software related matters.
About You

Master’s Degree in Architecture and registered in IAP with NSAA.

LEED AP is an asset.

Ability to sketch and draw by hand.

Candidates must be able to carry out activities with minimal supervision, manage teams, coordinate consultants and work directly with clients.

Must be experienced in architecture projects from initial concept development to final project deliverables.

Strong visual and graphic communication skills.

Excellent written and verbal communication skills with a focus on effective collaboration and integration.

Software experience with Sketch-up, layout, AutoCAD and/or Revit, Photoshop, InDesign, Microsoft Office suite.
