Gate-Young House & Rupert George House Restoration and Addition is a careful balance of heritage and new in Halifax's downtown. This project breathes new life into two significant heritage structures while introducing a dense, thoughtfully designed addition at the rear. Maintaining existing rooflines and framing the historic side yard with new public spaces, the design respects the past while embracing the future. A proportionally sensitive 3-storey element along Hollis Street is subtly set back, ensuring a subdued street presence that complements the historic fabric.
